Is it mandatory that my son/daughter does community service as part of their commitment to the Cumberland Force?
Yes, we ask that each player devote 2 hours of community service and the parent and coach will monitor... On occasion the coach will let each player know of a team event to provide an option for the player to log time, however each player can do their own on their own time. We will abide by to the honor system. It’s not our goal to make this an overwhelming task, but rather build good citizens within the community, not just belter ball players.
I can’t think of what my child can do to accomplish the community service requirements?
Ask the coach or a board member for ideas. We view this as anything your child does for someone in the community (not in your household) without receiving monetary gain. This could be anything such as mowing a neighbor’s lawn, writing a letter to a service member or resident of a nursing home, picking up trash at a park or anything organized by your church.
Do I have to work concessions?
Actually the answer is NO…BUT you are responsible for your designated shift(s) of concession duty. You can choose to find another parent to work your shift or hire someone from our qualified list of candidates who will directly get the monetary benefit of working your shift. But remember, you are responsible for your shift being covered. Concessions are a huge part of the future for the Cumberland Force.
What fundraisers will I be obligated to participate in?
At this time, only one fundraiser. To provide good advertisement for our sponsors, we sell t-shirts and other apparel items that have their logo or name printed on the back and the Force design of choice on the front. Until further notice each player is only required to sell 5 t-shirts, but can sell as many as they wish.
Will my child be punished for me or my family breaking the parent contract that I signed?
Each head coach has been asked to enforce the parent contract in the form of playing time or expelled from the team without reimbursement of player fee depending on the severity of the offense. The board reserves the right of final action taken.
Do I have to contact my team liaison about a concern or complements? Can I go directly to a board member or coach?
Each board member has and always will accept calls, good or bad. Our contact information is on our team site. The team liaison is simply an avenue if you feel uncomfortable going directly to a board member. The Cumberland Force board ask that parents don’t approach a coach immediately after a game with their complaints or concerns, rather wait 24 hours before addressing the issue. Any and all concerns that are brought to the board’s attention will be discussed.
How many games will our team play and how far will we travel?
The Cumberland Force mandates no more than 40 games and no further than a 70 mile radius. Our goal is to keep expenses down as much as possible for all families... THE ONLY EXCEPTION TO THIS DISTANCE IS FOR THE 17U BOYS TEAM DUE TO LIMITED LOCAL TEAMS TO PLAY. WE MAY HAVE TO EXTEND FURTHER TO ACCOMMODATE A FULL SCHEDULE.
Will I be asked to do anything as a parent?
It takes a lot of volunteered time to keep this organization running. At times we may ask for parents help for certain tasks, especially during tournaments. Maybe lining a field, watering the field down, checking trash cans to see if they are over flowing, running scoreboards, etc.... We appreciate your help and involvement.
